The Third Coast Avanti Club convened on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Golden Coral buffet restaurant in Humble, Tx. A buffet lunch was available and members and guest indulged while President, Dave Boratyn started the meeting around 11:30 am. We had a great turnout with 12 members in attendance.
A number of subjects were discussed including:
Elections for 2025, (I will send out duties of each position and announce when and where our next meeting will be, sometime in February).
AOAI 2025 meet in Washington, Pa. (9/16 - 9/20, 2025), Discussions by members as to the degree of the projects that some are involved in, Discuss a time line for future meetings: decided to meet Once A Quarter plus it will/may also include car shows and other events that will not necessarily include an official club meeting,
A new position was created: Club Activity Coordinator: this will involve messages out to all members about upcoming car shows and events that may interest members, Eddy Flores, involuntarily, became our new position Coordinator, Congratulations Eddy!
We have a new member that joined us during our meeting. Please extend Congratulations to Mike Bartone, owner of Todays European Car repair shop in Houston. He's working on a '63 Avanti that has been sitting for quite a whole, dismantled, as the previous owner got it painted but never put it back together, Good Luck Mike!
We need a picture of you and your Avanti. It can be together or individually. We plan to post them on our Facebook website.
We also have two prospective new members, that unfortunately were under able to make the meeting. Hope to get them involved soon. There are: Joe Solomin from Beaumont and Walter (Nils) Hansen from League City. I will post what information I have from both into our Membership Listing which will be coming our soon.
Per the members, I will be working on a phone/text contact list so that everyone will know who they are and that they are a member of the club. Anybody have some suggestion as to how this should look, by all means, please chime in.
After the meeting we ventured over to DMC (DeLorean Motor Company) located in Humble, Tx and James Espey, club member and VP of Operations for DMC, (where they basically rebuild/refurbish current DeLorean car owners automobile). He spoke about the history of John DeLorean and DMC, then took us through the repair shop and the inventory warehouse that houses, I believe James said, most every single part, bolt, nut and wash that goes into building the DeLorean. Fantastic workshop and amazing categorized inventory of all the parts. Members were amazed by the operation that James has responsibility for. Thank You James for the tour.
If I have missed any major discussion from our meeting, please let me know. Thanks to all for coming. Meeting ended around 2:30pm.
